The Rund um Köln cycling classic promises to be another thrilling race this coming Sunday. All eyes will be on Team Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe, which will be at the start with clear favorite Jordi Meeus and 2023 Rund um Köln winner Danny van Poppel. Belgian top sprinter Meeus, who won the Copenhagen Sprint last year, is considered a strong sprinter who also possesses the necessary toughness to master the demanding climbs in the Bergisches Land.
The extended circle of favorites includes Belgian Gerben Thijssen (Alpecin – Premier Tech), who is traveling to Cologne with plenty of confidence after an impressively strong spring, as well as Austrian Marco Haller (Tudor Pro Cycling Team), an experienced pro with ten Tour de France appearances under his belt
Local hero Nils Politt is drawing particular attention. The Cologne native and 2022 winner will once again compete in the race wearing the jersey of the German national team.
